About The Rescape Process

Rescape is a journey of rediscovery—a way to reconnect with your body, build strength, and gain clarity through movement and reflective writing. Over 12 weeks, you'll experience a blend of physical practices and creative exploration designed to help you understand yourself better, move with greater ease, and cultivate the capacity to thrive.

Why Rescape?


We believe that movement and reflection are powerful tools for transformation. Through The Rescape Process, you can develop strength—not only of the body but also of the mind and spirit. By combining movement, strength training, and reflective writing, we aim to help you craft a practice that is both deeply personal and profoundly impactful.

A brief scene setting:

The Irish word bóthar—meaning road—comes from (cow) and thar (track or path). Long ago, the roads were carved out by cows as they wandered across the landscape, slowly shaping a way into the land over time. To rescape is much like following these old paths: stepping away from the fast, rigid road of self-improvement and finding your own winding bóthar. It's about allowing time and experience to shape your Way, embracing a slower, more harmonious pace.

Instead of forcing change, rescaping is about easing into a natural flow, letting movement and reflection guide you. Just as the cows made their way, leaving a track that gradually formed into something lasting, The Rescape Process is about letting your actions, your curiosity, and your practice create a path that feels true to you. It’s a journey of shifting perspective—where strength, creativity, and presence shape your own unique way of being, and becoming.

  • “Last year I approached Robbie for a consultation call after seeing on his Instagram account that he was reaching out for one-on-one clients to work with. I spent 12 weeks working (playing) with Robbie and the experience was completely transformative.

    I thought I would just be working on getting my fitness back, doing a few push-ups and completing boring sets of exercises I hated doing but had to grin and bear it. While the work I had seen from Robbie never looked boring or something to grin and bear, my own expectations of myself were that I needed to get stamina back, and it would, of course, be annoying and uncomfortable to do so. What became apparent instead from our very first session was that Robbie was there to listen to me. Listen to how I viewed my body, my relationship with exercise, how I experienced living and how I wanted to live well. Note all the “hows” and not the “whats”!

    Robbie followed my needs, thoughts and ideals and together we found what truly mattered to me. And it wasn’t getting a 6 pack or learning to back-flip! We deconstructed my limiting beliefs of my body, relationship with exercise and turned our focus on things that made me joyful. Things that made me want to move, long-term.

    Robbie would propose something every week for me to do, so there was offerings of movement, mobility, strength, cardio etc. But there was also asks for written reflections, that he would never read if I didn’t want him to, but that helped me hone-in on what I appreciated about my practice, and what I could leave behind.

    It is a sad thing to realise that I have rarely been given the permission to choose how I live in this body. Robbie gave me the permission to claim full agency - to say no to everything he offered if I wanted. But I grabbed hold of almost everything he taught me, of course! Because he was listening

    to me, and it was fun.

    In my eyes, Robbie’s main gift to this world, is the permission and discerning ability to teach (or re-teach) Play. I am a very playful person, and this is good for my overall health from digestion, to mental health, to my nervous system, to energy levels. But it is hard to remain playful in a fast-paced world filled with stressors.

    I leave 12 weeks with Robbie laden with games, playful approaches to movement and confidence in my unique lived experience. I leave him having only revealed the tip of the iceberg in terms of possibilities. I can work with his movement ideas towards a long-term future where I can keep trying, playing, discarding and deepening my practice confidently and with curiosity. Robbie gave me back to myself. Suffice to say, with deepest gratitude, I cannot recommend him enough.”

Here’s how the journey unfolds.

Program Components

The Rescape Process brings together three key components that, when practiced in harmony, create a powerful journey of growth and self-discovery:

1. Movement Practice
Movement is at the core of Rescaping. We focus on cultivating both quality and capacity—meaning that you’ll learn to move more fluidly and efficiently while building your physical power. Whether through strength training or exploring new movement patterns, you’ll be invited to experience your body in fresh, enriching ways.

2. Strength Training
Strength is about more than muscle—it’s about resilience, capacity, and a sense of vitality. Our strength training practices are designed to meet you where you are, progressively enhancing your physical abilities in a way that feels empowering and sustainable. We focus on building a foundation of strength that helps you feel more capable in daily life and within your movement practices.

3. Reflective and Creative Writing:
In The Rescape Process, movement and writing work together to deepen your journey. You’ll experiment with different movement cues—like lightness, fluidity, or control—and observe how these affect your experience. Through writing, you capture what changes in your body and perception. These reflections help refine your body schema (your physical image of self), enhancing the connection between movement and awareness. Each insight contributes to your growth, integrating creativity with physical practice to shape your unique path.

Experiment with Movement and Strength
Physical practice is the cornerstone of your journey in rescape. You’ll explore your body’s capacity through movement and strength training, working to refine movement quality while building resilience. Strength training enhances your physical readiness, allowing you to develop greater power, stability, and vitality. Each practice is designed to feel natural and adaptable, meeting you where you are and guiding you toward greater capability and ease. This combination of movement exploration and strength training helps cultivate a deeper, more integrated physical practice.

Engage in Reflective and Creative Writing
Journaling becomes a mirror of your physical journey, offering insights and fostering growth through playful shifts in perspective. Beyond reflection, experimental and creative writing—including essays, haikus, poetry, and observational note-taking — helps you expand how you see and relate to the world. This process encourages imagination, play, and deeper expression, allowing you to bridge the physical practice with creative exploration.

Integrate and Create Your Practice
As you explore the interplay between movement, strength, and reflective writing, you will develop an authentic practice that is entirely your own. This process is about more than just physical skills—it’s about self-knowledge and self-creation. You’ll take the insights gained from movement, strength training, and writing, and weave them into a practice that evolves with you. By integrating these elements, you create a path that is uniquely yours, fostering a sense of purpose, growth, and connection in both body and mind.

Your Bóthar and Beyond 

Your bóthar isn’t just the road you’re on—it’s the endless possibilities that stretch beyond it. At the heart of the Rescape Process is the craic, a life-affirming essence unique to each individual, offering a wellspring of vitality. With the skills and capacity you’ll cultivate, you’ll continue to explore in playful, open-ended ways—experimenting with movement, embracing creative challenges, or simply rediscover the joy of curiosity. The craic infuses your journey with lightness and adventure, transforming learning into play and play into a way of living.

    • Taking Rest: Learning how to fully rest is an essential skill. It allows your body to recover, regenerate, and be ready for the demands of life. True rest is about letting go completely and giving your system the space it needs to reset.

    • Managing Tissue and Joint Health: Understanding how to care for your tissues and joints helps maintain long-term mobility and comfort. You’ll gain practical techniques for keeping your body healthy and adaptable, ensuring it supports you in whatever you do.

    • Finding the Craic: Rediscovering the joy of play is vital for maintaining curiosity and creativity. The craic is about embracing lightness, experimenting without fear, and keeping a sense of wonder in both movement and daily life.

    • Maintaining Physical Preparedness: Building and sustaining physical strength and endurance allows you to feel capable and resilient. This readiness is about cultivating your capacity to meet challenges head-on, with confidence and power.

    • Knowing Yourself Deeply: Through reflective practices, you will cultivate a deep understanding of who you are. This self-knowledge supports you in making choices aligned with your values and responding authentically to life's challenges.

    • Expressing Through Writing: Writing is a powerful tool for processing experiences and articulating your journey. It helps you capture insights, shift perspectives, and express your evolving sense of self in a creative and meaningful way.

    • Navigating Challenges with Resilience and Ease: Life is full of challenges, but through this journey, you’ll developed the resilience to adapt and face obstacles with a sense of ease. You’ll learned to navigate both physical and mental challenges by staying grounded, curious, and responsive.
